Greetings!
Here’s a little reminder of how we can follow Jesus’ example of humility from the book The Humility Factor.
Our nature is one which craves attention, and when we do something great, we want not only the respect and rewards, but also the credit. The model we see in Jesus is that He always gave credit to the source, God the Father, and He rarely broadcast his accomplishments. Bob Goff speaks of this as well.
“Jesus hardly talked to anyone about what He’d done. The Bible never depicts one of those end-of-camp slideshows where Jesus goes over all He had done with the His disciples. Instead, Jesus modeled that we don’t need to talk about everything we’ve done.”
This is the way we should lead – humbly going about our work meeting the needs of people and serving a greater cause than merely attracting attention to ourselves. Let’s live that today.
Remember that we now have a place to share our stories of humble pastors in action. I hope you’ll join me in the conversation at humblepastors.net.
Also, as I shared with you last week, I’m now looking forward to coming to churches and organizations to speak about the humility factor and to advise on how to hire and develop pastors and leaders with humble intelligence.
Finally, please visit me on social media via Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin.
Have a great and humble week!
John
