Greetings!
It’s been an exciting few weeks as we released my book The Humility Factor. I’ve heard from a lot of people as they received the book in the mail and I so appreciate the support. The thing that we have started is a movement in which leaders, particularly pastors, will be encouraged and expected to lead with humble intelligence, which is the result of the seven actions of the humility factor when all are present. It’s not easy to do, but fortunately we can look directly to Jesus, who modeled it for us. When our pastors and church leaders follow His example, they will lead like Jesus led, and our churches will benefit, because, as I say in the book, “Healthy churches are led by humble pastors.”
We’ve started a movement and I’d like to keep the conversation going, so I’ve launched a new website to help us do that. It’s humblepastors.net. If you have caught a pastor demonstrating one of the seven attributes of the humility factor, I want you to tell us about it. You don’t have to say their name or the church, but you can if you want to.
Let’s say they regularly show a high level of compassion, the first of the humility factor attributes; tell us a story about it, or if you have noticed your pastor being extraordinarily open to the input of the members of their congregation, another humility factor attribute, talk about it. What I want to do is compile a library of positive examples of our pastors leading like Jesus. We all know the stories of pastors who miss the mark, but in this conversation, let’s celebrate those who get it right. I’ll moderate and you’ll have the opportunity to respond to each other’s posts.
I hope you’ll join me in the conversation at humblepastors.net. I’ve already posted the first example of a humble pastor.
John
