I’m just about to leave a leadership conference which I have been attending for the last few days. One of the things that I’ve known for quite a while is the value of putting yourself under the teaching of other leaders. If you really want to be the best you can be, you must put your ego aside and learn from others.
Here are some sound bite-size things I learned, or was reminded of, over the past few days.
Patrick Lencioni spoke on the importance of vulnerability and trust between leaders and their team in an organization.
Miles McPherson reminded us that we are each individually unique and marvelously made.
Ray Johnston stressed the need for fresh vision in our organizations.
Efrem Smith led a terrific seminar on being a leader of reconciliation.
Alan Forsman spoke on being committed to developing people.
Chris Brown emphasized that leadership is not about the task, but it has to be about the people.
There is certainly a lot more that I will take away from the conference, but those were some of the gems. I’m sure I’ll bring more of it to you in future posts. As a leader, make sure you spend time with other leaders and let them teach you. It will make a world of a difference.
Lead well.
